About

I’m Scott, a designer from Chicago.

I’m a Senior Product Designer with almost a decade of shipping products at Aon, WestRock, Ascent and Hyatt. What I love most is creating something out of nothing: taking a tangled, complicated workflow and turning it into something that feels simple.

My work starts with the people using it. Whether it’s a product, a design system or a 3D piece, I want it to be human-friendly, emotive and beautiful, and to leave whoever’s on the other side with a smile.

Experience

  1. Designing PeerTracker, Aon’s benchmarking platform that lets clients compare their compensation and benefits against peer companies. I lead the product from research to delivery: interviewing analysts and HR leaders, mapping how they build peer groups, and turning dense data into dashboards and comparison views that read at a glance. I work closely with product, data and engineering on a shared component library, and keep the experience accessible as the platform grows.

  2. Designed for WestRock’s IoP (Internet of Packaging) application. Visualized and conceptualized packaging solutions with sticky notes, sketch boards and whiteboards to speed up ideation and move projects forward. Led user research into the packaging industry’s workflows, challenges and opportunities, and worked with cross-functional teams to turn business requirements into intuitive experiences across WestRock’s digital platforms.

  3. Designed and prototyped features for Ascent’s PEAK On-Demand web app and transportation management systems: interactive dashboards, order visibility, advanced analytics, KPI accountability and automatic shipment tendering. Mentored junior designers, ran extensive research with surveys and usability testing to drive empathy-led decisions, built a new design system with accessibility and WCAG compliance, and designed data visualizations such as maps, dashboards and infographics.

  4. Designed for Hyatt Privé, an exclusive program for luxury travelers and travel agents: new architecture, consistent design systems and standards, product renderings, a full color system, iconography and illustrations in line with Hyatt’s brand. Tested regularly with active travel agents to improve the experience between Hyatt and its guests, and worked on Hyatt’s Digital Key, which lets guests unlock their room from the mobile app on iOS and Android.

  5. Interaction and visual design for Hyatt’s mobile and web platforms: flows for streaming Chromecast from a guest’s phone, map directions to the hotel inside the app, and visual layouts across the mobile app. Won 1st place in the Hyatt Intern Challenge with a feature that let guests track and get real-time updates from housekeeping during their stay.
